Setting personal boundaries is one of the most healthy and liberating practices that you can do for yourself.

Establishing boundaries allows you to be your true self and is also a form of self-care. Healthy emotional boundaries means that you value your own feelings and needs.

When you set boundaries, it allows you to let go of worrying about how others will feel and it helps you from overextending yourself and your energy.

I struggled with setting boundaries for a major portion of my life. It took me breaking down physically, emotionally and spiritually to actually see what I was allowing to affect my well-being.

Through my journey, I learned how to balance my ego and people-pleasing tendencies. I also learned how to take time to fill my own cup back up. I realized that I can show up more for those around me- if I took better care of myself.

Hindsight reflection can help you realize this too ….but how do you set boundaries?

  1. KNOW WHAT YOU WANT
  2. GIVE YOURSELF PERMISSION TO ASK FOR IT
  3. BE SPECIFIC WITH YOUR REQUEST
  4. ASK WITHOUT APOLOGY
  5. WATCH YOUR EXPECTATIONS
  6. ACCEPT THE ANSWER IF IT IS NO
  7. DON’T TAKE IT PERSONALLY
  8. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN WANTS & NEEDS
  9. FIND A WAY TO FULFILL YOURSELF
  10. LET GO OF THE END RESULT

Think about these steps. Go through them one by one and decide what you can put into action to create the boundaries that are for your highest good.

Are there things that you are allowing to happen that is affecting your well-being? It doesn’t have to be this way. Setting healthy boundaries not only will benefit you- but it will help everyone around you too!
